Bencere was established in 1969 as a supplier of precision cutting tools for the UK market. We were one of the first suppliers of ASP taps and milling cutters in the UK offering previously unseen performance compared to the HSS material available at the time.
It was this desire to be at the forefront of tooling development that saw the company continue to grow and develop. We were the first to offer a recessing system for the valve industry, which saw cycle times for machining internal grooves reduced by 90%, and the first to give the aerospace industry a back chamfer system that met their specific needs.
As the company grew it became established as a niche product supplier to the major automotive and aerospace manufacturers offering a range of problem solving solutions based around sound engineering principals.
In 1984 the original owner retired and the business was taken over. While continuing to supply its existing range of products the new owners developed and patented a new single-blade reamer and introduced new product lines from EZ Burr, Elliott and Autofacer. The company also established a manufacturing facility for the manufacture of precision reaming and fine boring tools and the IRU and BCU tooling systems.
During the 1990’s Bencere partnered with Elliott Tool in America and it was through this period the reaming product took Bencere to a new level of technical expertise working to micron tolerances in both volume production and high value component manufacture. The company relocated to a new facility and continued to invest in new technology and as it grew so did the company’s reputation. As an extension of the business, Bencere designed and manufactured its first special purpose multi-axis CNC tube expanding machine.
In 2005 Kennametal Inc. started working directly with Bencere and after a very successful partnership they purchased the reaming product range. Bencere relocated to a new facility just outside Stratford-upon-Avon where it continued to offer the same levels of expertise and customer service for its range of burnishing, deburring, back spot facing and recessing products.
In January 2009 the owner retired and the business was taken over by Mollart Engineering Limited. This added a new dimension to both businesses as Mollart offer a range of deep hole drilling and boring tools that complement the Bencere product range. In 2012 the Stratford facility was consolidated within the Chessington, London facility as part of the expansion programme within Mollart.
